About

Kilnsea Pre-School was established in 1987 and we are located in the Community Centre at Maiden Place.

We have the use of a large, air conditioned hall, with children’s toilets, kitchen and office space; the building is accessible for wheelchair users and has a disabled toilet. The pre-school also has the use of an enclosed grassed outside area with a large paved patio with covered sand pit.

We are a community group with charity status, owned and run by the parents of children attending the group. At the Annual General Meeting a committee is elected to administer and be responsible for our policies. We are governed by the Early Years Alliance constitution.

We have a maximum of 33 children in Pre-School with a staff to child ratio of 1:8 (1:4 for 2 year olds). We also invite one parent/ carer volunteer helper to each session. All our staff and committee hold Enhanced Disclosures issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

Children are eligible to start Kilnsea Pre-School from the term after their 2nd birthday. You can register your child on the waiting list from the age of 12 months. There is a non-returnable administration fee of £20 to pay when registering. Our fees are currently charged at £7.75 per hour for unfunded children and funded 2-year-olds going over their 15 hours but will increase to £8.10 from 3rd June and £7.50 per hour for 3- & 4-year-old funded children going over their funded hours, which will increase to £7.85 from 3rd June. Fees are reviewed annually, therefore are subject to change, however parents will be given a terms notice of any increase.

We are a registered Early Years provider with Wokingham Borough Council, a member of the Early Years Alliance and are inspected by Ofsted.

We last had an Ofsted inspection in March 2023. Please see the Ofsted website to view the report and additional information 50214174 (ofsted.gov.uk)
